September 17th Message of The Week
KEEPING THE MAIN THING, THE MAIN THING….
JESUS CHRIST
JESUS tells us in Matthew 28:19 NIV, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the FATHER and of the SON and of the HOLY SPIRIT.” Romans 1:16 NIV says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of GOD that brings salvation to everyone who believes; first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”
The gospel or “good news” of CHRIST is summed up in our illustration above. HE came. HE died. HE arose. HE ascended. HE’s coming back! Those who hear the gospel, believe the gospel, repent of their sins, confess that JESUS is LORD, and are immersed in baptism will be saved when the LORD returns and meets us in the sky.
As disciples of CHRIST, it is our privilege and responsibility to spread the good news. It is not to complicate it. It is not to place burden or guilt on new believers but to show them peace. We are not to weigh them down with traditions that do not bring glory to God (Matt 23:4, Col 2:4). It is just simply to share the gospel. JESUS commands us with HIS mission. That mission should become our mission:
- Love God with all you’ve got, heart, mind, and soul! Matt 22:37
- Love others as much as you love yourself. Matt 22:39
- Share Jesus and the gospel Matt 28:19-20
